PERC undertook original research demonstrating the economic value of reforming the consumer credit reporting system in Japan. PERC found that movement from the current “negative-only” and fragmented system to a full-file and comprehensive system would result in an average annual increase to Japanese GDP of 0.3%. PERC presented these findings at an event hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Japan.
In addition to the original research, PERC efforts in Japan included:
- Advocacy with the Diet;
- Upper House fundraising events;
- Outreach to the Bank of Japan, MITI, and other agencies; and,
- Industry outreach.
